First-time wildlife travellers always ask: which tiger park should I book? After 15 years of safari operations, our honest comparison.
Ranthambore (Rajasthan)
Best for: First-timers. Highest sighting probability in the dry pre-monsoon months (April-June). Dramatic fort backdrop makes for the iconic tiger-and-ruins photos. Easy access from Delhi-Jaipur via train or road.
Bandhavgarh (Madhya Pradesh)
Best for: Serious wildlife photographers. Highest tiger density in India (one of the densest in the world). Dense sal forests — harder to spot but more thrilling when you do. Less accessible; a 4-hour drive from Jabalpur.
Corbett (Uttarakhand)
Best for: Landscape lovers and birders. Larger park, lower sighting probability but richer overall biodiversity — 600+ bird species, elephants, crocodiles, otters. Foothills of the Himalayas, stunning scenery. Dhikala zone requires advance forest bookings.
How we recommend
For a first wildlife holiday — Ranthambore, 3 nights minimum. For serious tiger photography — Bandhavgarh, 4 nights with a specialist photographer-guide. For mixed wildlife + landscape — Corbett, 3-4 nights. Combine two parks across 7-10 days for the best chance at sightings.
