Royal Rajasthan Heritage Palaces
A 6-day luxury journey through Rajasthan's royal capitals — Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Udaipur. Stay in restored heritage palace hotels, dine with descendants of royal families, and explore forts, stepwells, and lakes that defined a thousand years of history. Maximum 8 guests for an intimate experience.
Royal Rajasthan: Live Like Maharajas
Rajasthan was the land of 36 royal kingdoms before India's independence — and most of those palaces still stand. Many have been carefully restored as heritage hotels, often run by the descendants of the original royal families. This 8-day circuit lets you sleep in genuine 17th-19th century palaces, dine where maharajas dined, and experience the desert state at its most opulent.
The palace stays
You'll stay at four heritage properties: a hilltop fort-palace in Bundi (16th century), a lake-palace in Udaipur (recommended view of Lake Pichola), a sandstone haveli in Jaisalmer (built 1810), and a desert hunting lodge near Jodhpur (the maharaja's former shooting box). Each has fewer than 30 rooms and is staffed by villagers from the local royal estates.
The cities
Udaipur — Lake Pichola at sunset, City Palace tour, Jagmandir island lunch, miniature painting class. Jodhpur — Mehrangarh Fort (one of the largest forts in Asia), Jaswant Thada cenotaph, Sardar Market spice walk. Jaisalmer — the only inhabited fort city in India (4,000 people still live inside), camel safari to Sam sand dunes, sunset cocktails on the dunes. Bundi — the secret stepwells, Garh Palace murals, evening boat ride on Nawal Sagar.
Royal experiences
Private dinner with a member of a royal family (subject to availability). Private polo match at the Jodhpur Polo Club. A morning falconry session at the desert lodge. Henna and turban-tying with a local family in Jaisalmer. A folk Manganiyar music recital under the stars.
Practicalities
October to March is the only window — desert summers (April-June) routinely cross 45°C. We use a private AC SUV (Toyota Innova or Crysta) with a multilingual chauffeur-guide. The pace is unhurried — three nights at the centerpiece properties, allowing for late starts and afternoon naps. Suitable for couples, families with teenagers, and anyone celebrating a milestone occasion.
